January 26 & 27, 2019 Eagle Watch Weekend

EagleEagle viewing and birds of prey shows.

Guided Hikes will leave the VC at 9:30am, 11am & 1pm each day. 3 differnt hikes to choose from: Starved Rock & French Canyon 3/4 mile... Eagle Cliff & Lover's Leap 1.4 miles........ Wildcat Canyon & Overlooks 2 miles

Both Days 1pm - Live Birds! Rich Escutia & His Red Tailed Hawk & 2 Harris Hawks; Art & History of Falconry!

March 10, 2019 ......... tap for maple sap!

Join our Park Naturalist, Lisa Sons for a presentation on the history of Maple Syrup from the Native Americans to modern day. Try a piece of maple sugar and head outside to find a maple tree and learn how to tap for sap! 1:30 - 2:30pm

May 4 & 5, 2019 Annual Wildflower Pilgrimage

WildflowersEnjoy the great variety of spring wildflowers at Starved Rock. Guided hikes leave from the Visitor's Center at 9:30am, 11am & 1pm.

October 19 & 20, 2019 Fall Colors Weekend

Fall ColorsGuided hikes to see the spectacular colors of fall. Learn about the geology and history of the Park as you are led to different canyons and overlooks of the Park. Meet at the Visitor's Center at 930am, 11am or 1pm for guided hikes.

October 26, 2019 Haunted Halloween Night

Hear “haunted” tales of the park from the “ghosts of Starved Rocks past” as the “Pink Lady” guides you along the luminary lit trail to the top of Starved Rock.

By RESERVATION ONLY: visitors must pre-register for the guided hike by emailing DNR.StarvedRock@illinois.gov by October19th. Each hike can take up to 40 participants and lasts 1 hour.

Haunted hikes leave from the Starved Rock Visitor Center at 5:30, 5:45, 6:00, 6:15 and 6:30 p.m.

Bill Myers, the Starved Rock Storyteller, will spin his tales from 2:30 - 3:30 in the VC
